A one-stop shop for all your DNA, drug and alcohol testing services is now available in Newcastle upon Tyne. Located at the Osborne Clinic* in Jesmond, AlphaBiolabs’ newest Walk in Centre offers the fastest DNA testing in the UK.
The Peace of Mind DNA tests only involve swabbing cheek cells and can be taken at home or at the Walk in Centre. When the samples are received back in the UK-based laboratory, test results can be made available the same day or next working day. Paternity, Maternity, Sibling, Aunt/Uncle, Grandparent, Y chromosome and Zygosity (twin) testing services are all available. A non-invasive Prenatal test can also be arranged to determine the paternity of a baby before birth.
“Undertaking a DNA test can be an anxious time. We understand your concerns and have taken appropriate measures to ensure that confidentiality is maintained at every step”, said AlphaBiolabs Managing Director David Thomas. “All results are emailed back and password protected for security.”
DNA testing for legal purposes, such as for immigration, can also be arranged at the Walk in Centre following strict chain of custody conditions. Legal test results are recognised and admissible to UK courts, the Ministry of Justice, UK Passport Office, UK Border Agency and the UK Visas and Immigration service.
A wide range of alcohol and drug testing services is also available. From home drug test kits to innovative alcohol-testing bracelets, advice is offered on the best methods to record alcohol or drug abuse. Breath, hair, blood, urine and oral fluids can all be analysed with results as quickly as next day.
“SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring® is the most accurate and comprehensive method of measuring alcohol consumption on the market”, said David Thomas. “A wealth of information is reported in an easy-to-understand format.”
The SCRAM CAM® bracelet is worn on the ankle and tests for the presence of consumed alcohol in perspiration every 30 minutes. This form of testing is the first of its kind to detect the entire drinking event, from start to finish, as it happens. Known as sobriety tagging, continuous alcohol monitoring can demonstrate the frequency and pattern of alcohol consumption. As such, it can provide local authorities, courts and child-protection agencies with the additional tools to change behaviours in vulnerable and higher-risk alcohol-dependent clients. Fully trained nurses at the Osborne Clinic can fit the SCRAM CAM® bracelets, monitor the results and provide reports after an agreed time period.
