Established in 2004, and headquartered in Warrington, Cheshire, we are the UK’s leading laboratory offering DNA, drug, alcohol, and health testing.

Our customer base spans the public, family & immigration solicitors, social services, businesses, academic institutions, and even the media.

We employ some of the foremost scientists in their fields of expertise, and have invested heavily in our UK laboratory, enabling us to test the widest variety of samples including cheek cell DNA, urine, oral fluid, hair, nails, blood and other biological samples.

We also operate a UK-wide network of walk-in centres and specially trained clinicians, making it easy to arrange a sample collection appointment at a time to suit you.

All legal and social work professionals can also benefit from FREE sample collections at any of our walk-in centres for legally-instructed DNA, drug and alcohol tests.

ISO 17025

ISO 17025 is the internationally-recognised standard for Testing and Calibration Laboratories. The standard contains all the requirements that Testing and Calibration Laboratories must meet if they wish to demonstrate that they operate a quality system, are technically competent and are able to generate technically valid results.

Laboratories accredited to this standard can provide their clients with a measurable level of assurance. UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection, and calibration services.

ISO 9001

ISO 9001 is the internationally-recognised standard for the quality management of businesses. It applies to the processes that create and control the products and services an organisation supplies.

It prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met. It is designed and intended to apply to virtually any product or service, made by any process anywhere in the world.

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is the internationally-recognised standard for environmental management systems (EMS), providing a framework by which organisations can continually improve environmental performance.

Certification demonstrates that we are taking proactive measures to minimise our environmental footprint, comply with relevant legal requirements, and achieve environmental goals.

ILAC

ILAC is the international organisation for accreditation bodies operating in accordance with ISO/IEC 17011 and involved in the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies including testing laboratories (using ISO/IEC 17025).

Accreditation means that evaluators (testing and calibration laboratories, inspection, and certification bodies) have been assessed against internationally recognised standards to demonstrate their competence, impartiality and performance capability.

This means that through the application of national and international standards, government, procurers, and consumers can have confidence in the calibration and test results, inspection reports and certifications provided.

Society of Hair Testing

We are members of the Society of Hair Testing. As such, we carry out all hair analysis in accordance with the agreed standards and best practice guidelines of this international scientific body.

Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association

We are members of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA), a professional association, whose members practise in all aspects of immigration, asylum and nationality law.

ILPA is represented on numerous Government, official and non-Governmental advisory groups and regularly provides evidence to parliamentary and official enquiries.

Association of Lawyers for Children

We are an associate member of ALC, an organisation that promotes and secures justice for children and young people within the legal system in England and Wales. The ALC has an outstanding reputation for promoting the voice of the child.

Ministry of Justice

AlphaBiolabs is accredited by the Ministry of Justice to carry out parentage tests as directed by the Civil courts in England and Wales under Section 20 of the Family Law Reform Act (1969).

AlphaBiolabs complies with the guidance provided in ‘A Common Framework of Principles for direct-to-consumer genetic testing services’ issued by the Human Genetics Commission in August 2010 to ensure that we provide testing in an accurate, confidential, and ethical manner.

Our standard operating procedures also conform to the guidelines set out by the International Society of Forensic Genetics (ISFG).

Cyber Essentials Plus certified

Cyber Essentials Plus is the highest level of certification available under the government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme.

AlphaBiolabs has previously been awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation for offering the fastest DNA test results in the industry.

The Queen’s Award scheme (now the King’s Award) is regarded as the UK’s most prestigious business awards, and winners are invited to a special reception at Buckingham Palace.

We are proud to have been recognised by the scheme for our rapid DNA test results, offering next business day results as standard, and same day DNA test results if required.

The typical turnaround for other laboratories is 3-5 business days, while some of our competitors take even longer as they send samples off to overseas labs.

All our testing is carried out in-house at our accredited UK laboratory, which means we can deal with samples quickly and efficiently.
