DNA Walk in Centre opens in Scotland

Rapid DNA testing services can now be accessed in Glasgow* as AlphaBiolabs opens its first DNA testing clinic north of the border. This newest Walk in Centre may be the first in Scotland but is tenth in its nationwide network across the UK. A range of DNA tests will be available at the Walk in Centre, including Paternity, Maternity, Sibling, Aunt/Uncle, Grandparent, Y chromosome and Twin testing services. The tests only involve swabbing cheek cells and no blood is needed. When the samples are received back in the UK-based laboratory, results can be made available the same day or next working day. A non-invasive Prenatal test can also be arranged to determine the paternity of a baby before birth without any risk to the baby. “Undertaking a DNA test can be an anxious time. We understand your concerns and have taken appropriate measures to ensure that confidentiality is maintained at every step”, said AlphaBiolabs Managing Director David Thomas. “All results are emailed back and password protected for security.” DNA testing for legal purposes, such as for immigration, can also be arranged at the Walk in Centre following strict chain of custody conditions. Legal test results are recognised and admissible to UK courts, the Ministry of Justice, UK Passport Office and the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).
