Newcastle Walk in Centre makes alcohol testing simple

Providing a sample for alcohol testing couldn’t be more straightforward at our Walk in Centre in Jesmond*.

AlphaBiolabs offers cost-effective, accurate and confidential alcohol testing in Newcastle on a drop-in basis. Instead of having to book an appointment to have one of our network of sample collectors visit you, staff at our Walk in Centre will collect your sample on a walk-in basis every Wednesday.

Depending on the type of test being carried out, your sample may then be securely delivered to our UK-accredited laboratory for fast, accurate analysis.

Alcohol testing

There are a number of different types of alcohol tests on offer depending on your needs. These range from alcohol breath tests (breathalysers), blood alcohol tests, hair strand tests to bracelets for continuous alcohol detection. Our Customer Services team will be able to recommend the best testing option for your needs, whether a member of public, from the legal profession, or a business looking to enforce workplace alcohol testing.

The advantage of breath alcohol testing is that it can instantly determine how much alcohol someone has in their system at the time of testing. Blood tests involve the sample being checked for biomarkers to indicate whether someone has been drinking alcohol to an excessive level within the previous 4 weeks. Hair strand alcohol testing can establish a person’s history of alcohol consumption for up to 6 months.

Alcohol tag UK

SCRAM Continuous Alcohol Monitoring® is an alcohol bracelet, worn on the ankle, which tests for the presence of consumed alcohol in perspiration every 30 minutes. This ‘ankle tag’ is the first test of its kind to detect the entire drinking event, from start to finish, as it happens. Also known as sobriety tagging, continuous alcohol monitoring can demonstrate the frequency and pattern of alcohol consumption. As such, it can provide local authorities, courts and child-protection agencies with a tool to change behaviours in vulnerable and higher-risk alcohol-dependent clients.

“SCRAM CAM® is the most accurate and comprehensive method of measuring alcohol consumption on the market”, said David Thomas. “A wealth of information is reported in an easy-to-understand format.”

Staff at the Osborne Clinic can fit the SCRAM CAM® bracelets, monitor the results and provide reports after an agreed time period.
