Paternity testing does not have to wait until after a baby is born. AlphaBiolabs offers risk-free prenatal paternity testing in Cardiff so you can resolve any doubts as quickly as possible. Our non-invasive test can be carried out as early as 5 weeks after conception or 7 weeks after the date of the expectant mum’s last period.

How does it work?

AlphaBiolabs uses the very latest scientific techniques to analyse traces of the baby’s DNA found within a blood sample taken from the mother. As our prenatal testing involves nothing more than a blood test for the mum-to-be, it poses no danger at all to the pregnancy. In contrast, traditional methods of collecting a DNA sample from the foetus through invasive procedures like chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis can cause miscarriage in a small number of cases.

For AlphaBiolabs to successfully determine whether someone is the biological father of an unborn baby, we will need a blood sample from the mother and a mouth swab containing cheek cells from the potential father. Children inherit DNA from both their parents so our scientists will analyse the samples to identify which DNA the baby has inherited from the mother and then determine whether or not the other sample is from the biological father.

Testing options available in Cardiff

We understand that DNA testing is a sensitive and emotive issue so there is no need for the mother and potential father to attend the same location to provide their samples for testing. However, we do ask that the samples are taken at around the same time to make sure they can be processed quickly and to minimise the risk of the blood samples becoming spoilt.

If you are based in Cardiff, both the mouth swab and blood samples can be collected by our expert staff at our Walk in Centre in the city. You can also make an appointment for a member of our sample collection team to visit you at an address of your choice. Alternatively, you can use a medical professional like a nurse or GP based at a health centre or doctor’s surgery to collect your DNA sample but you may be charged an extra fee for this service.

Whichever method you choose, your samples will then be sent to our laboratory in Warrington for testing. For £875, you will receive your prenatal paternity test results within 7 days. For an additional £200, you can choose to upgrade to the express 4-day option. If you’d rather spread your payments, 6-month interest-free credit is available subject to eligibility. To find out more and apply for interest-free credit, call 0333 600 1300 or order your prenatal DNA test online now.
