Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs (SFAD) continues its lifesaving ‘click and deliver’ naloxone campaign with support from AlphaBiolabs

Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs (SFAD) is continuing to raise awareness of the benefits of naloxone for families affected by drug use, thanks to ongoing support from AlphaBiolabs’ Giving Back campaign.  

Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of opioids including heroin, methadone, and morphine, providing vital time to call an ambulance in the event of a person overdosing.

Since launching in May 2020, SFAD’s online ‘click and deliver’ naloxone service has delivered over 5,000 kits.

Recently, SFAD also partnered with Glasgow Taxis to launch a #StopTheDeaths branded taxi, alongside a campaign to encourage taxi drivers to carry naloxone in their cabs.

One Glasgow-based taxi driver said: “Last night using the kit I got from SFAD I was able to bring a young man back from overdose in my taxi.

“He was handed over to paramedics and I was allowed to go about my route. Best thing I have ever done. Thank you for providing this service.”

The use of naloxone is one of the many tools SFAD can use to help reduce harm for families in Scotland.

Thanks to support from fundraisers like AlphaBiolabs, the charity can continue its valuable work, providing a lifeline for families affected by drugs and alcohol.

For example:

• £13 could pay for an hour of staff support for its helpline, which receives around 200 contacts per month
• £18 could pay for a session of one-to-one support, giving families a place to speak and be heard
• £33 could pay for the delivery of naloxone, a lifesaving medication, posted directly to anyone who needs it

Alcohol and drug testing for legal matters

AlphaBiolabs carries out a wide range of alcohol and drug testing, working closely with local authorities and organisations involved in family law and child welfare.  

As part of our Giving Back campaign, AlphaBiolabs is donating £5 for every legal instruction received throughout 2022 to four partner charities, including SFAD.
