The 12 Days of Christmas – how AlphaBiolabs is supporting vulnerable children and families this Christmas

In our work to provide rapid and reliable DNA, drug and alcohol testing to legal companies, social workers, local authorities and the public, we come into contact with people from all walks of life.

Very often, the people undergoing legal or court-instructed DNA, drug or alcohol testing are struggling with some aspect of life.

Strained family relationships, money difficulties, drug and/or alcohol abuse, family violence and child protection issues – all are sadly commonplace in some of the homes our sample collectors visit every day across the UK.

And whilst our customer or client is the legal firm we’ve been appointed by, or the local authority’s team of social workers, we always make every effort to support the families we are visiting by ensuring that our sample collection visit is professional, efficient, and respectful.

Although our work with those tested for legal reasons usually begins and ends with the home visit, we work with a network of charities supporting vulnerable families and individuals throughout the year.

This year, as a result of the hard-hitting effects of the global pandemic, we’ve decided to increase our support to these charities.

We have therefore launched our ‘12 Days of Christmas’ campaign and will donate £100 to 12 different Trussell Trust food banks across the country, throughout December. The Trussell Trust’s food banks work with families and people facing poverty and hunger, to provide emergency food and support. 

We’re kicking off our campaign with £100 for our local foodbank in Warrington. For the 11 days thereafter we’ll be donating £100 to Trussell Trust food banks in the following locations: London (3 separate food banks), Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Blackburn, Newcastle upon Tyne and Glasgow.

On the twelfth day, we’ll also be giving a £1,000 donation to Cash for Kids, a grant-giving charity that helps disadvantaged children across the UK.  Just like The Trussell Trust, Cash for Kids has experienced a significant increase in demand for its help this year.

Through our donations we hope to make a small but positive difference to some of the families and children who have struggled this year and help make the festive season just that little bit brighter.
