UKVI DNA testing in London

UKVI DNA testing in London

UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) is a division of the Home Office responsible for the UK’s visa system. It was previously part of the UK Border Agency.

UKVI operates the UK visa system, managing applications from foreign nationals seeking to visit or work in the UK. It also considers applications from foreign nationals seeking protection or British citizenship.

AlphaBiolabs understands that with UKVI cases and appeals the need to meet deadlines is incredibly important; this is why we provide next day DNA results as standard. The good news is that the most cost-effective and fastest DNA immigration test in the UK can now be accessed in London. We have two Walk in Centres* in North and South London that provide access to our full range of DNA relationship tests.

The results of these DNA tests can be used for immigration cases, applications and appeals. As well as being accepted by the UKVI, they are accepted by the Home Office, UK Passport Office, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and UK courts.

How are UKVI DNA tests performed?

Collecting a sample of your DNA is a straightforward and painless procedure. It simply involves the sample collector rubbing a mouth swab on the inside of your cheek to collect some cells. There is no need to provide a blood sample. The sample collector then arranges for these DNA samples to be returned to our in-house laboratory. Here, our scientists extract the DNA from the cheek cell samples using one of the newest DNA extraction techniques available. Our laboratory is one of only a few accredited to test up to 42 DNA Short Tandem Repeats (STR) markers as standard (most relationship tests are performed using only 16 STR markers). We also perform all DNA tests twice so you can be confident of getting accurate results.

Everyone has two copies of each STR marker, known as alleles: one is inherited from the father and the other from the mother. Our scientists observe the two alleles at each STR marker and compare them between the tested individuals. The correspondence of alleles between tested individuals provides evidence of a relationship between them. Statistical calculations are then performed to determine the probability of a biological relationship.
