Diazepam drug testing

About Diazepam

Diazepam

Diazepam is a benzodiazepine (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peens). It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety.

Diazepam is used to treat anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or muscle spasms. It is sometimes used with other medications to treat seizures.

Do you test for Diazepam?

Alphabiolabs can test a subject for Diazepam use.
We test using state of the art drug testing equipment and processes to ensure that if Diazepam is present it will be detected. Also we can detect Diazepam over a period of time to show if a subject has stopped using Diazepam. For example if someone was using drugs in the past for medical reasons, but claims to have stopped when it is no longer being prescribed, this can be checked.

It is not an illegal drug, but such tests can confirm whether or not drugs are being used irresponsibly (including consumption frequency to constitute addiction) or against their intended purpose (abused).

Classification/legal status

Diazepam or Benzodiazepines are a prescription only drug under the Medicines Act and can only be medically supplied by a pharmacist. They are also controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act as a Class C drug making it illegal to supply them to someone else.

Diazepam Availability

NHS figures suggest that there are 200,000 illicit benzodiazepine users in the UK.
Benzodiazepines available online that are not currently licensed in the UK, unless named specifically under the misuse of drugs act, are imported and sold. This is an offence against the medicines act and it is a lesser offence than dealing in drugs controlled by the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Diazepam Effects

Diazepam is a sedative drug which slows down a person’s reactions, making them feel drowsy and lethargic. The drug can be used to relieve stress and anxiety and make the user feel more relaxed, however large doses can make a user forgetful and sleepy.

Diazepam Risks

Some people can become reliant on taking benzodiazepines and experience withdrawal symptoms including decreased concentration, tremors, nausea, vomiting, headaches, anxiety, panics and depression.
