Why choose saliva drug testing?
Saliva drug testing (also know as oral fluid drug testing) is a method that can be used to determine whether someone is misusing drugs by taking a sample of their saliva and analysing it for particular substances.
This compact easy to use, oral drug test can be used anywhere. As such, it is ideal for on-site and workplace testing. The entire test takes just 3–5 minutes. An immediate negative result may mean that no further action needs to be taken, but a non-negative result will then undergo confirmation drug testing from the laboratory to determine exactly what substance was taken and in what quantities.
Oral fluid drug testing is known as a ‘narrow window’ form of testing because its period of detection is up to 48 hours, although this can depend on the particular substance taken.

How are saliva samples collected?
An absorbent collector (similar to a large swab) is placed inside an individual’s mouth for up to 2 minutes to soak up sufficient saliva. When placed back into its housing unit an integral screening panel will display a line if any of the drugs screened for are present. A non negative result will then need to undergo confirmation testing from our laboratory to determine exactly what substance was taken and in what quantities.
Results can be made available next day if required, or within 3–5 days as standard. An immediate negative result usually means that no further action needs to be taken.
