What is the Chinese gender predictor?

The Chinese Gender predictor is a fun way to guess the gender of an unborn baby that uses the mother’s date of birth and the date of conception or the baby’s due date to predict what the baby’s gender will be.

Here, we explain how the method works and how accurate it is, as well as other methods that can be used to determine a baby’s gender.

What is the Chinese Gender Predictor?

The Chinese Gender Predictor is a method sometimes used to predict the gender of an unborn baby.

The method is said to have been found over 700 years ago in a royal tomb near Beijing. The chart predicts a baby’s gender using the age of the mother at the time of conception and the date of the baby’s conception or the baby’s due date and converts them into dates on the Chinese lunar calendar.

The dates are then cross-checked, and the result is used to predict whether you are expecting a boy or a girl.

There are lots of online calculators and charts that have been built to predict the baby’s gender using this method. However, it has no basis in scientific fact. As such this method should only be used for fun and the results should be taken with a large pinch of salt!

How accurate is the Chinese Gender Predictor chart?

There is no evidence to prove that the Chinese Gender prediction method is accurate.

Studies have shown that there is no correlation between the results of the Chinese gender predictor and the baby’s gender at birth.

As it is not a scientific method, it can only be used as a fun way to guess the gender of an unborn baby. As you will either be having a baby boy or a baby girl, any method to predict the baby’s gender that doesn’t use a scientific technique will only be accurate around 50% of the time.

Essentially, it is like flipping a coin.

And, although this myth still circulates online, it is not possible to use the Chinese Gender Predictor chart to forecast the best month to conceive a baby, with the specific intention of having a boy or a girl.

Should I use the Chinese gender predictor chart?

The Chinese gender predictor chart can be a fun way to guess the gender of your baby, but the results should not be relied upon.

As the dates used for this method are based on the mother’s birth date and the date of conception, the test can be carried out at any point during the pregnancy and the results will stay the same – though may not be correct.

How can I find out my baby’s gender for certain?

To accurately determine the gender of an unborn baby, the best option is to carry out a baby gender blood test, such as the test we offer at AlphaBiolabs.

Baby gender blood testing can be carried out from as little as 6 weeks into a pregnancy and has an accuracy of over 99%.

Our At-home Baby Gender Test kit contains everything you need to collect a small blood sample quickly, easily, and painlessly from the mother, and then return it to our accredited UK lab for testing.

We are the ONLY UK laboratory to offer the TinyTAP device for blood sample collection, allowing you to collect your blood sample in the comfort of your own home, with no venous blood draw or clinical appointments needed.

If you would prefer to have your sample collected by one of our professional sample collectors, you have the option to order a Clinical Baby Gender Test.

Laboratory analysis is performed in the same way as with our At-home Baby Gender Test and your results will be just as accurate (99.9%). However, with a Clinical Baby Gender Test, you can choose to have your sample collected at one of our walk-in centres* or a time and location convenient to you* (via TinyTAP or venous blood draw).

Both our At-home Baby Gender Test and Clinical Baby Gender Test offer results in just 3 working days** or the next-day** if you upgrade to our Express Service.*

Other methods of determining your baby’s gender are available. However, none of these offer results from as early as 6 weeks into pregnancy, or the ability to collect your own blood sample at home. Additionally, some of these methods (e.g. chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis) carry a small risk of miscarriage and are only available to women who are at high risk of having a baby with a genetic or chromosomal abnormality.

Collect your own blood sample in the comfort of your own home using our innovative, pain-free TinyTAP device, and return your sample to our laboratory. Your secure results will be emailed to you in just 3 working days, or the next day if you upgrade to our Express Service.

We are the only UK laboratory to offer the easy-to-use, fuss-free TinyTAP device for baby gender testing!
